ABOUT AIM

The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) is the Government of India’s flagship initiative to create and promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across the length and breadth of the country. AIM’s objective is to develop new programs and policies to foster innovation across various sectors of the economy.

ATAL TINKERING LABS

AIM launched the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) program to stimulate a problem-solving and innovative mindset among children in ATL schools and surrounding communities. To foster inventiveness, ATL organizes various activities including regional and national competitions, exhibitions, workshops on problem-solving, product design and fabrication, lecture series, and more at regular intervals.

The Department of Space, ISRO has adopted 100 Atal Tinkering Labs across the country to promote STEM education and encourage space science and technology-related innovations among school students.

ATAL OBJECTIVES

  • To create workspaces where young minds can develop innovation skills, shape ideas through hands-on activities, and learn in a flexible environment.

  • To empower youth with 21st-century skills such as creativity, innovation, critical thinking, design thinking, social and cross-cultural collaboration, and ethical leadership.

  • To help build innovative solutions to India’s unique challenges and support the nation’s growth as a knowledge-driven economy.
